Not a lot to say about the wonders and infinite potential of human technology on this day. But, here’s a photo taken from space, from aboard the International Space Station – an artificial satellite, a planet-orbiting machine, a beautiful example of human understanding and cooperation. As a species, we could really do without such irony.
