Welcome to Japanese Technology from the Future Friday!
It’s already Friday already here in Japan – we’re 16 hours ahead of the western U.S., which means it’s totally the future. And because it’s already Friday already, one is left with little time to provide something original or worthwhile before the weekend hits.

So one aggregates!

Why Japan and J-Tech?
First, Anthrobotic has geographical superiority. In the future.
Second, Japan has lots and lots of super hott (and odd) technology stuff going on.
Third, delicious opportunities to cathartically make fun of the Japanese invariably crop up.

Your Source for One-Upping other Technology Dorks
As JTFF is a conduit of specifically Japanese tech news, from the future, readers are assuredly almost a day ahead of half the world’s technologically interested/obsessed. Check in Friday mornings in North America, and BOOM! You win, man.

First, Anthrobotic Scooped CNN by Two Months
Okay, this isn’t really technology news but kinda is, it’s more of a testimonial. You can give yourself one of those, right? Anyway, May 12 Anthrobotic reported on the robot ass developed here in Japan, and CNN just picked that one up… a week ago. See, the JTFF is for reals, yo!

Northrup to Build more Warstuff for Japan
Yep, more MAVs and probably some UAVs. In and of itself, this isn’t all that exciting, but it highlights an interesting case of licensing. If you search for images of the modern Japanese military, known as the Japan Self-Defense Forces, you’ll find a healthy number of very American looking machines. Sure, makes sense, given the U.S. and Japan’s history and current state of… I don’t know, cooperative occupation? Makes sense that we’d sell them arms, but in many cases, American manufacturers sell not the vehicles, but the recipe! You ever see a Mitsubishi F-15J?

Big Projections for Clean Energy Tech in Japan
I don’t really have anything snarky to say here. So, hey – Japan, good job.
