Boston Dynamics’ Big Dog robot has been around for several years, and robotics enthusiasts, dorky website makers, DARPA, and those who dig a good mechanical creep-out have been waiting and longing to see the upgrade. Version 2.0, the LS3 (Legged Squad Support System), promises great strength, range, stealth, and the ability to self-right after a tip. Video was apparently pulled down, but one expects it’ll be back up soon.

Below is a 3-4 year-old video of Big Dog 1.0. The organic movements of this machine are just about as intriguing and creepy as those of an artificial face – after these several years one wonders how far up the creepy meter Big Dog has climbed… Will keep my 6 regular readers posted – article after the jump!
